Barcelona played out a goalless draw with Getafe away at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez stadium.

Xavi named a strong squad for the game, but the team was without Gavi for a long time.

Gavi was a key player last season, but was on the bench for nearly 80 minutes against Getafe.

According to reports, Gavi was given low time because he lacked the rhythm necessary to make the starting eleven against Getafe.

The midfielder played just 30 minutes in pre-season and was tired afterwards. Although fit, Gavi’s overall physical condition is not perfect at its best.

However, the game ended in a goalless draw, as Barcelona couldn’t score a goal.

Xavi was however pleased with his second-half performance.

“In the second half [against Getafe] we were good. We tried it, and with 10 players we were very good too. We had the chances but didn’t convert them,” Xavi said after the game.

“We also started the season with a draw last time. I’m proud of the team for how they’ve tried.”
