Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez could face a lengthy touchline ban following his red card against Getafe.

Xavi was sent off for his angry comments against referee Soto Grado during the goalless draw with Getafe on Sunday night.

Xavi is likely to be banned for Barca’s upcoming matches in August against Cadiz and Villarreal. Xavi’s post-match comments about the referee may have also gotten him into hot water.

Here’s what Xavi said: “For me, the hand is invented. He invents the hand. That’s the way it is. Everyone has seen it.

“At the meeting, they said that they would understand the coaches during moments of tension, they didn’t understand me in that moment.

“They said they would call handballs that were very clear, today I don’t see it clearly.”
