Ousmane Dembele is set to sign for Paris Saint-Germain.
The 26-year-old joined Barcelona in a big money move from Borussia Dortmund for €107m, back in 2017.
Having struggled in his initial years at the club, Dembele was a sensation last season under Xavi.
Now a top player at the club, Xavi is pained that Dembele is leaving.
Dembele reportedly told Xavi that he’s leaving to win trophies with PSG, and also because of the poor treatment he has endured at the club. According to Sport, Dembele said this in his final words to the manager.
He is reported to have told Xavi: “If it were up to you, I would stay, mister. For you and for the fans, I would stay, but this is not the problem.”
Meanwhile, per AS’s Javi Miguel, the Frenchman also gave Xavi the reason behind his move and told the Barcelona manager: “I want to keep winning titles, but in a HEALTHIER environment. Here there are always people throwing s*** at me.”
