New Barcelona signing Ilkay Gundogan has weighed in on the Ballon d’Or debate.

Some feel Barcelona legend Lionel Messi should win it for the eight time, while there are those rooting for Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe.

For Gundogan, it’s a difficult choice, as he believes that Messi or Haaland should win it.

“I think that the Ballon d’Or should go to Lionel Messi or Erling Haaland,” Gundogan told Diario Sport.

“I don’t see anyone else near them. I’m glad I’m not the one to decide, but both of them deserve it.”

Messi stunned the world after leading Argentina to the World Cup title last December.

For Haaland, he scored 50+ goals for Manchester City last season and helped them win the treble.
