In what was his first starting appearance for Inter Miami, Messi scored an 8th minute goal to put his side ahead.
Sergio Busquets provided the assist for Messi with a trademark long ball. Messi first hit the post before scoring on the rebound.
14 minutes later, Messi scored the second for Miami, following an assist from Robert Taylor.
Inter Miami ended up beating Atlanta United 2-0 in the Leagues Cup.
Messi scored a 94th minute free-kick goal on his debut, which was the match winner in the previous game against Cruz Azul.
