Samuel Umtiti joined Barcelona in 2016, and was a key player in defence until injuries disrupted his career.

The 29-year-old centre-back spent last season on loan with Lecce, but before that, he had struggled to get games due to persistent injury woes.

Just last month, Barcelona terminated the contract of the Frenchman, after the player returned from a successful loan spell at Lecce.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that Samuel Umtiti will be joining Lille as a free agent.

This news comes less than 30 days after his contract was terminated.

The Frenchman played 133 games for Barca scoring twice and registering one assist. He was so clean with his defending that he never received a red card during his time at Barca.
