Xavi has revealed how top Man City fullback Joao Cancelo was prevented from joining Barcelona.

According to Xavi, Barcelona have already agreed a deal to sign Cancelo on loan in January, but he ended up at Bayern Munich.

Apparently, Cancelo fell out with Pep Guardiola after he was benched a few times by the former Barca manager, with Pep Guardiola eventually preventing the Portuguese from moving to Barca.

“We wanted Joao Cancelo at Barça in January, he was offered and we said yes,” Xavi said in his chat with TV3.

“Man City discussed that internally and then told us they did NOT want to allow Joao to join Barcelona.”
