La Liga may collapse if we don’t punish Barcelona – La Liga president

La Liga president Javier Tebas has insisted that Barcelona must pay the punishment for defaulting the La Liga financial rules.

According to Tebas, the La Liga could collapse if there are no sanctions for such acts.

Tebas maintained that the competition will still do well in Europe if they spend within their means.

Javier Tebas has told Financial Times. (h/t Mundo Deportivo): “Barcelona is very important for La Liga, but if we look the other way, it will be a serious mistake. Our competition would collapse.

“Perhaps now their president will call me angry, but it’s the truth.”

He added: “Yes, I feel proud, for Villarreal, for Sevilla, not only for the big teams. This shows that it’s not just money that matters.

“Yes, money gives you a competitive advantage, but that’s not the only thing that matters.

“We have less money but we work better in our academies, with our scouts… There are many factors that play a role.”
