Barcelona’s friendly match with Premier League side crumbles

With the World Cup to kick off soon, reports had claimed that Barcelona were arranging for a friendly game against Arsenal.

Xavi and his players who didn’t get a call-up would have over a month to train and keep fit, and had made plans to play a friendly game during the break.

Mundo Deportivo now claim that Barcelona’s plan to play a friendly against Arsenal is on the brink of collapse.

Barcelona will still try to play a friendly before the return of the official competitions as a means to raise money for the January market, the report claims.

The report further adds that Barca have already contacted Juventus but there is no official proposal yet. The match would likely be played before December 25, if everything pans out.

Barca would restart their season on December 31 with a home clash against Espanyol, and the club is trying to ensure that the remaining players stay sharp and match fit.
