Robert Lewandowski was given a red card in Barcelona’s 2-1 win over Osasuna.
With Barcelona already trailing 1-0 to an early David Garcia goal at El Sadar, Lewandowski was involved in a high collision with an Osasuna defender having already been cautioned for a foul on Ignacio Vidal.
Referee Jesus Gil Manzano didn’t hesitate to issue a second bookable offence to Lewandowski who will now miss club’s final game before the World Cup begins in 12 days’ time.
Despite the lengthy protest by the Barca players, referee Manzano stuck to his decision.
Reacting to the incident after the game, Barcelona star Pedri claimed that the first yellow card wasn’t a bookable offence, thus Lewandowski shouldn’t have been red carded.
Speaking on Robert Lewandowski’s sending off, Pedri said: “I think the first yellow card could’ve not been given to Lewandowski.”
