Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez has decided to drop star striker Robert Lewandowski for the Champions League game against Viktoria Plzen.

Just after Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Lewandowski remains the team’s second most used player, and Xavi has decided to drop the Pole for this Champions League fixture.

Explaining why he dropped Lewandowski, Xavi said: “Lewandowski has minor discomfort.

“He was on the list but he had been pain in his back for some days and we decided that it would be better if he rests,” Xavi added.

Xavi will be hoping to have Lewandowski fully fit to play against Almeria on Saturday.
