Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski is yet to win the Ballon d’Or as a player, but was named the FIFA Player of the Year for 2021.

Barcelona legend Lionel Messi is currently the holder of the Ballon d’Or from last year. However, the Argentine didn’t make the shortlist for 2022.

This year’s favourites to win the award are Lewandowski and Karim Benzema.

A ‘leaked version’ of the Ballon d’Or results made its way to twitter, with Karim Benzema emerging as the winner.

The only Barcelona player in the top 13 is Robert Lewandowski. The Poland international didn’t make the top 3, as he rather came in 5th place.

Reports however suggest that the leaked version is fake.

The Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place on October 17.
