Barcelona have confirmed that Ronald Araújo underwent a successful surgery in Finland on his right leg adductor injury.
It’s expected that the 23-year-old defender will miss the World Cup in November, as he may be out for nearly two months.
Radio Marca conducted an interview with specialist in the field Dr. Pedro Luis Ripoll on the possibility of Ronald Araújo playing at the World Cup in Qatar later this year with Uruguay.
The specialist believes that there’s a possibility that Araujo will be back in action in time for the World Cup.
He believes that the 23-year-old made the right decision to have surgery:
“When a muscle injury affects the tendon, the best thing to do is to have surgery.”
Uruguay national team head coach Diego Alonso has said that he hasn’t given up hopes of Ronald Araujo’s participation in the World Cup in November.
He said: “I told Araujo that we would wait for him until the end. We still believe that there’s a chance for him to play the World Cup.
“We’ll see how we recovers. Hopefully he will make it in time.”
