Barcelona have given an official update on Ronald Araujo, who has had a successful surgery following a right adductor injury he suffered.
A club statement reads: “UPDATE | Ronald Araujo had successful surgery this morning for his right adductor longus tendon avulsion.
“The surgery was performed by Dr. Lasse Lempainen under the supervision of Club medical staff in Turku, Finland. He is out and his recovery will determine his availability.”
After what seemed a difficult decision, Araujo opted for a surgery, and would now miss the World Cup in November.
“I want to make the reasons for my decision [to undergo surgery] clear in order to avoid speculation,” Ronald Araujo wrote on twitter.
“I love my country. I love my team [Barcelona].
“After consulting with several professionals, we decided that surgery is the best option. Here it is not about ‘choosing’ one or another option. It is about health and getting back to 100% as soon as possible.
“This is a very difficult time for me personally. I take this opportunity to thank everyone for the support I am receiving.
“With faith and hard work, I will do my best to come back as quickly as possible. Hugs and blessings!
“I can do everything with Christ who strengthens me!”
