Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, has hinted he may not be interested in taking a pay cut at the moment.

The club is trying to reduce its wage bill, but Stegen doesn’t think it’s the right time to talk about a wage reduction.

In an interview with El Larguero, Ter Stegen was asked whether Barcelona requested him to reduce his salary.

The goalkeeper responded: “If they asked me to reduce my salary at Barça? Well, I don’t think it’s the right time to talk about that now.

“We’re going to need everyone to be in the best condition to be able to face what’s left until the World Cup.”

Ter Stegen also hailed the form of summer signing Robert Lewandowski, and he believes that the Poland international has benefitted the team.

He added: “When you have a striker as a reference point, it changes a lot for me as well. We expected a lot from him and he has started better than everyone expected.”
