Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo had picked up an injury while playing for Uruguay.
The defender had torn his thigh adductor and is set to be out for a while.
Araujo wanted to participate in his first World Cup in November, and to do that, he opted for a conservative treatment for his injury.
However, after a meeting held this morning at the Ciutat Esportiva with Xavi and Barcelona’s Dr Ricard Pruna, Ronald Araujo has decided to undergo surgery on his injured adductor.
The 23-year-old defender was convinced the recovery after surgery will be quick and good for his career in the long-term.
Araujo is now expected to be sidelined for up to two months following the surgery.
Barcelona fans have hailed Araujo for making the right decision.
