Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo picked up an injury within a minute of playing for Uruguay, and it seems quite a troubling one.

According to reports by Mundo Deportivo, Ronald Araujo is suspected to have torn his thigh adductor and might require a surgery.

The bad news for the 23-year-old is that he may be out of action for two months if he undergoes a surgery and would subsequently miss out on the World Cup in November.

According to a report provided by Javi Miguel, Araujo is not ready to undergo surgery, as it would jeopardise his chances at the World Cup.

The other option is for Araujo to go through a conservative treatment.

This method is much faster than surgery, however, it does not guarantee that the player will return to full fitness.

Barcelona seem to want Araujo to undergo surgery, but the Uruguayan is against it. Barca would be hoping to avoid a similar issue that saw Samuel Umtiti lose his career at the club.
