Barcelona forward Memphis Depay has opened up on his future with the La Liga side amid interest from Manchester United.

United were interested in pursuing a deal for Depay late in the transfer window but a move failed to materialise.

Speaking to ESPN and Marca (via Metro ) while on international duty, Depay said: “I had two starts in the last two weeks in La Liga. It is not enough. I went off after 60 minutes but I want more. In the last 25 minutes of the match there are more spaces and there is always an opportunity to take advantage of that.

“I love competition and I do not run from it. I love being at Barcelona. Other clubs knocked at my door and I looked at my options. I decided to stay and fight for my chance at Barcelona.”

Depay added: “I can’t give too much details away. But look, the club has its own ideas and I have my own ideas and sometimes this clashes with each other. But at the end of the day, things went okay.”
