Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo had a fine performance in Barcelona’s 3-0 victory over Elche on Saturday.

One the highlights of his performance happened late in the first half, as the 23-year-old was spotted jumping over Barca’s pitch-side crest so as not to step on it.

The fans appreciated the defender’s gesture and rewarded him by chanting his name and applauding him.

After the game, the centre-back admitted it was out of respect for the club.

“I’m a fan of the club. I respect Barca so much. I will always jump over the emblem out of respect,” Araujo said.

After the game, Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez spoke on Ronald Araujo jumping over the Barcelona logo to avoid stepping on it.

Xavi said: “What Araujo did with the emblem is respect. It’s a detail from him.”
