Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele started the game against Elche and lasted an hour on the pitch before being subbed off for Raphinha.
Dembele had little sleep the previous night leading to the Elche game as he was present at the birth of his first child.
Speaking to the media after the game, Xavi hailed the Frenchman as a professional, for wanting to play despite his lack of sleep.
Xavi said: “Dembele is a professional. He slept very little, and I asked him if he was fine to play.
“He said that he wanted to play, he always wants to.”
Dembele has been one of Barca’s best players this season, with 2 goals and 4 assists in 8 matches for Barca.
Despite his lack of sleep, Dembele had a decent outing against Elche, as he recorded 2 shots, 1/3 dribbles, 31/42 passes and 4 key passes.
