Barcelona had a penalty appeal late in the first half against Barcelona.
Ousmane Dembele was challenged by Alphonso Davies inside the Bayern box, and the Bayern defender didn’t have contact with the ball as he brought down the Barcelona star.
The referee refused to blow for penalty as play was continued.
After the game, Barca boss Xavi was not prepared to comment on the performance of the referee even though everyone thought it was a penalty.
Xavi said: “I didn’t see the Dembele foul, but everyone is telling me it was a penalty. Regardless, I don’t want to comment on referees.”
Former World Cup referee Wolfgang Stark, however insisted it was a penalty.
“That was a foul on Dembele. The referee should have given that pen. Bayern were lucky,” Wolfgang Stark said via DAZN.
