Barca star sign contract with €1billion release clause

Barcelona midfielder Gavi has signed a new contract with the club until 2026.

Gavi’s deal has a €1bn (£865m) release clause.

The 18-year-old playmaker who is highly rated at the club was under contract until 2023, as he approached the end of his previous deal.

Gavi who has played for Barcelona since 2015, is highly rated by club and country.

He made his first-team debut for Barca in August 2021, aged 17 years and 24 days, becoming the fourth-youngest player in the club’s history.

He made his Spain debut in October 2021, becoming the youngest player to represent his country at full international level.

Gavi became the national team’s youngest scorer by scoring against the Czech Republic in June – aged 17 years and 304 days – breaking the record set in 2020 by Barca team-mate Ansu Fati.

Gavi has started in all Barcelona’s La Liga matches this season, and is already having a phenomenal season.
