Robert Lewandowski risked the wrath of Bayern Munich fans when he chose to leave Bayern in favour of a move to Barcelona.

The 33-year-old striker spent 8 years at Bayern Munich where he bagged in a high number of goals every season.

Lewandowski is set for a return to the Allianz Arena for the first time, after leaving for Barcelona last month.

Bayern Munich’s president Herbert Hainer has told Bayern Munich fans not to boo Lewandowski as he returns to the Allianz Arena for the first time.

“I hope, and it’s my great wish, that the fans are nice to Robert Lewandowski and give him a friendly welcome,” Bayern Munich’s president Herbert Hainer has told Diario Sport.

“He played eight years for us, scored a lot of goals and was decisive in a lot of games. And we won all the big titles.

“And in the end, everyone got what they wanted: Robert was able to join Barcelona, Barcelona are happy to have Lewandowski, and we have money to invest in our future. Everyone should feel comfortable and I hope our fans will welcome him.”
