Play was halted in the 82nd minute in the game between Cadiz and Barcelona.
Barcelona was leading 2-0 at the time – when the players alerted the referee to a medical emergency in the stands at the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla, with an older supporter having collapsed.
The match referee had to stop the game. Reports say that a person in the stands suffered an emergency and the medical team had to intervene.
The game was paused for over 30 minutes, but play was restored after the supporter was revived and sent to the hospital.
It was a tense atmosphere at the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla, as Ronald Araujo and Marc-Andre ter Stegen were spotted praying during the incident.
Cadiz goalkeeper Jeremias Ledesma was a hero on the night as he raced to help the fan.
While many players looked on in shock, Ledesma raced over to the dugout to get a defibrillator from the Cadiz medical team, and passed it over to the supporters at the stand, in order to help the fan.
As the event went on, a second person in the stands – believed to be a camera operator also fainted.
Cadiz president Manuel Vizcaino has now confirmed that both persons are okay.
