For many years at Barcelona, Sergio Busquets has had a trademark role in the middle of the park.

Now 34, the veteran midfielder is coming to the end of his career at the Camp Nou.

The midfielder was issued a straight red card in the game against Rayo Vallecano, but Barcelona have done very well in his absence.

According to Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez, he has options of players that can play in that role and also named centre-back Andreas Christensen.

“Andreas Christensen has sometimes played as a defensive midfielder with Denmark and did well there,” Xavi said.

“We have several options. De Jong can play there too, as well as Kessie,” the Barca boss added.

Meanwhile, this could be Busquets last season for Barca. The 34-year-old has so far not had a contract extension.
