According to reports, Barcelona are preparing legal action against Atletico Madrid after a disagreement between the two clubs on the terms of Antoine Griezmann’s loan deal to Atletico Madrid.

Griezmann joined Atletico Madrid on a loan deal from Barcelona last year.

Barcelona believe that the France international has met the ‘£35 million’ buyout clause in his contract by playing over 50% of the minutes he was available last season.

However, Atletico seem to disagree. Atletico Madrid claim the contract was across two years.

Instead, Diego Simeone has been using Griezmann as a substitute, as he tends to bring him on after the 60th minute, with the clause in mind.

According to Barcelona sources, Barca have an agreement with Atletico Madrid, that if Griezmann plays 50 per cent of all the games in his first season, Atletico are obliged to buy him out for €40m. If not, this condition applies to the second season.

Griezmann indeed played more than 50 per cent of the games with Atletico last season, which is why Barcelona are ready to take legal actions.
