Barcelona started the Champions League campaign on a high, with a 5-1 victory over Viktoria Plzen.
UEFA have now named Robert Lewandowski as the Champions League Player of the week after his stunning performance in Barcelona’s 5-1 victory over Viktoria Plzen.
Lewandowski won the award over PSG’s Kylian Mbappe (brace vs Juventus), Napoli’s Piotr Zielinski (2 goals against Liverpool) and Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane (a goal vs Inter Milan).
Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez was delighted with the performance of Lewandowski against Plzen.
“Lewandowski has an insatiable hunger for success. I’m running out of praise, it’s the hat-trick, but also the work he puts in. He’s an incredible signing,” Xavi told Movistar.
“Dembele? He is happy, very happy. He’s enjoying himself, and he’s very important to me. He assists and he scores. He’s a dagger on the wing,” the Barca boss also said.
