Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been assaulted during a violent robbery at his home in Barcelona in the early hours of Monday morning.
Following Barcelona’s 4-0 victory over Real Valladolid, which Aubameyang was an unused substitute, the Gabonese was then assaulted in his home.
According to Spanish newspaper El Pais, at least four men climbed into the player’s garden and threatened him with firearms and iron bars.
Aubameyang was reportedly assaulted and intimidated by the armed men in front of his wife. The criminals forced open a safe inside the house and stole several jewels.
Witnesses claim that the thieves fled in a white Audi A3.
Aubameyang has now revealed how he was assaulted in his home.
“Hey guys, thanks a lot for all the messages,” former Arsenal captain Aubameyang posted on Instagram.
“On Sunday night, some violent cowards broke into our home and threatened my family and my children, just to steal some stuff.
“They injured my jaw but I will recover in no time, and thank God no one else was physically harmed.
“The feeling that we are no longer safe in our own home is hard to understand and describe, but as a family, we will overcome this and stronger than ever.
“Thanks for all the support, it really means a lot to us. Auba.”
