Barcelona star Martin Braithwaite has been deemed surplus to requirements at the club.

Braithwaite has been linked with a move to Real Mallorca, but that deal may no longer be on the cards due to his recent request.

According to Gabriel Sanz of Mundo Deportivo, Martin Braithwaite asked Mallorca to pay him a little more than he earns at Barcelona for him to join.

Braithwaite earns €6m gross at Barcelona per season – and have reportedly asked the La Liga side to pay him more than that figure.

This recent development has now put the deal on hold.

Meanwhile, Barcelona may have to pay Braithwaite €12m if they wish to terminate his contract.

To avoid paying the huge fee, Barca would gladly hand Braithwaite a letter of freedom if he finds a new club.

Xavi has now sent a message to players who don’t want to leave the club despite being deemed surplus to requirements.

“It doesn’t bother me when players refuse to leave. Everyone looks out for their own future,” Xavi said at a press conference.
