Former Barcelona midfielder Riqui Puig has left Barcelona and sealed a surprise move to MLS side LA Galaxy.
The 23-year-old Spaniard left Barcelona after Xavi made it clear that he wasn’t in his plans for this season.
However, Barca have the option to buy back the Spaniard in future if he impresses in the MLS.
Speaking about why things didn’t work out for him at Barcelona, Riqui Puig said: “At Barcelona, I never had a manager who trusted me, so I lost confidence.
“I was in Barcelona while all of my teammates were in Los Angeles playing matches… To be honest that hurt me a lot. Sometimes you have to take decisions, and they took that one, but I don’t agree with it.
“I have to thank Barcelona because I am who I am as a player thanks to them.”
He also spoke about his surprise of moving to LA Galaxy, adding: “I couldn’t imagine this club was reaching out to me… I couldn’t believe I was being called by the LA Galaxy.
“I like to take risks. It’s a new city for me, I think it’s a great opportunity. This is a league for young players. Trust me, in the coming years you’ll see more young players.”
