It has been a complicated transfer situation involving Barcelona and Frenkie de Jong.

From deferred wages, to Barcelona accepting a £70m and De Jong refusing to leave, to the fans booing De Jong.

According to Gerard Romero, there has been a twist, and Frenkie de Jong is now closer to staying at Barcelona this season than he is to leaving.

This comes after both parties agreed to keep him, with Xavi considering the midfielder a key part of his squad.

Man United and Chelsea have shown strong interest in signing De Jong this summer, but neither have been able to convince him to join them.

De Jong is settled at Barcelona and is eager to stay at the club and win trophies.

Romero however adds that it could still be possible for Barcelona to sign Bernardo Silva from Man City.

However, for that to happen, Barca needs to sell at least two more players before the end of the transfer window.

Meanwhile, talks of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leaving the club for Chelsea is getting stronger and Aubameyang’s representatives will meet with Chelsea today.
