Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso has been linked with a summer transfer move to Barcelona, and the 31-year-old Spain international is edging closer to a move to the Camp Nou.

Alonso missed Chelsea’s opening league game against Everton.

According to SPORT, Marcos Alonso asked Tuchel not to play him against Everton, as he wants to focus on resolving his future and to avoid any injury that could harm his transfer.

Barcelona and Chelsea are believed to have agreed a fee of €10m for Alonso, and the Spaniard will sign a contract with Barca until 2024 with an option for an additional year.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the deal for Alonso is imminent.

Romano tweeted: “Marcos Alonso is not part of Chelsea squad today as deal with Barcelona is really close – matter of final details then it will be completed in the next days. #FCB”
