According to reports, Chelsea are set to make a shocking swoop for Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea are going for Aubameyang.

Romano has claimed: “Chelsea are now considering Pierre Emerick Aubameyang as potential new striker. Discussions have already started on player side, still no bid to Barcelona.

“He’s one of the names in Chelsea list after meeting for Sesko and other targets.”

Thomas Tuchel and Aubameyang know each other well from their time at Borussia Dortmund.

It was under the Chelsea boss that Aubameyang gained prominence as one of the best goalscorers in Europe, scoring 79 goals in two years across all competitions.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was asked if he’d want to sign the player that scored 79 goals under him at Borussia Dortmund.

Tuchel said: “I would be interested in the 79 goals actually (laughs).

“We will not comment further.

“There are a lot of names out there, sometimes it’s due to the fact that we discuss a lot of names and sometimes it’s pure speculation and we will not get involved.”
