Manchester United have been linked with a move for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong all summer.

United have chased the Netherlands international, but he has so far chosen to remain at the Camp Nou.

Recent reports have linked Chelsea with a move for De Jong, and reports have it that the Dutchman favours a move to Stamford Bridge than Old Trafford.

There are also rumours behind the scene that Barcelona will be keen on selling De Jong for £70m in order to balance the books.

Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp, has confirmed from authoritative sources that the £70m rated midfielder will prefer a move to Chelsea.

Speaking about De Jong’s situation to The Byline, Redknapp said: “Now it looks like De Jong wants to go to Chelsea, I know that for a fact, he wants to go to Chelsea.

“Man United are not going to get him. I’ve had that from somebody right at the very, very, very top at Man United, he’s made up [his mind], he really wants to go to Chelsea.

“So if he goes to Chelsea, and Man United don’t get him, I don’t know where they’re going and if Chelsea get him obviously he’ll be a fantastic signing for them.”

Barcelona owe De Jong £14m in deferred wages, and reports have it that Chelsea could settle that if a transfer is attained.
