According to COPE, Barcelona have been told by La Liga that they still can’t register their new players due to the club’s financial challenges.
To make signings this summer, Barcelona had to activate three economic levers, which raked in over €700million in revenue.
The trio of Jules Kounde, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski, cost Barcelona nearly €200m.
Barcelona are trying to register their five new signings, including Sergi Roberto and Ousmane Dembele who signed new contracts following the expiration of their current deal.
The league’s ruling body has claimed that Barca can only account for €517m of the money they received from activating all their levers, and it won’t be enough to turn around the club’s negative balance and register all the players.
Barcelona will continue to hold talks with La Liga about the matter until an agreement is reached. Worst case scenario, the club may have to sell some of its players this summer.
