Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez reserved massive praise for Barcelona midfielder Miralem Pjanic after the 2-2 friendly draw with Juventus.

The 32-year-old midfielder was loaned out by Ronald Koeman last season, and Xavi is only getting to experience him for the first time.

“I liked Pjanic a lot and he was very good in midfield, he has a unique view of the stadium,” Xavi said after the Juventus game.

“He is a great player and we will monitor his situation from here to the end of the market,” Xavi added.

Pjanic joined Barcelona in the summer of 2020 from Juventus, but endured a difficult debut campaign under then-manager Ronald Koeman.

The Bosnian is being tipped to play a role as backup to Sergio Busquets in the middle of the park.

The 32-year-old himself has admitted that he’s working hard to overcome his struggles of the last two seasons.

He said: “In the last two years, I have struggled with injuries, covid-19, and went out on loan.

“But now it’s different. I am convinced that I can get back to my best. I’ve been working with a physical trainer this summer.”
