Barcelona played a pre-season friendly game against Real Madrid at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Barcelona won the game 1-0, and one of the big talking points from that match was the booing of Barca defender Gerard Pique.

Gerard Pique was heavily booed by the crowd in Las Vegas during the El Clasico tie.

Almost every touch of Gerard Pique was followed by loud whistles from the fans.

What could have been the problem?

The large boos may not be unconnected with Pique’s recent breakup with Shakira. Some fans even shouted her name when the player was walking past the stands, showing their displeasure with the Barcelona centre-back.

Pique and Shakira have gone their separate ways, and the player had been accused of cheating on the world-famous pop singer with a different woman.

Shakira is adored in Las Vegas, and about 35 per cent (231,000 people) of Las Vegas citizens are hispanic.

Pique surely got this treatment as a result of what he did to their ‘queen’.
