Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez was ruled out of a trip to the US due to issues with his international passport.

Xavi regularly visited Iran during his time as Al Sadd coach, and as a result, his passport was flagged.

Now, Xavi needs ‘special permission’ to travel to the United States to meet up with the team.

So far, Xavi hasn’t been granted permission to team up with his team, and Oscar Hernandez, Xavi’s brother and assistant, was in charge of Barcelona in the 6-0 thrashing of Inter Miami.

Oscar hopes Xavi will be available for Barcelona’s next game.

“I hope this was my first and last match as a [head] coach,” Oscar Hernandez told the press after the game.

“The situation is not easy for Xavi and I hope he finds a solution as soon as possible.”
