Barcelona chief Joan Laporta has done a good job in signing some top players this summer, despite the club’s financial crisis.
Barcelona have re-signed Ousmane Dembele, and also signed Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie on free transfers.
Barcelona have also sealed sensational deals for Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski.
Barcelona’s former presidential candidate Toni Freixa has come back to eat his words.
Some weeks ago, Freixa [the one who promised to bring Jurgen Klopp to Camp Nou] came up with a bold prediction, claiming that Barcelona won’t get any of its targets.
“Do you know that Lewandowski, Kounde, Raphinha, and Bernardo Silva will not come? You know that, right?” he tweeted.
Later on, he said Barca were ‘selling smoke’ by linking themselves to those star players.
Freixa is now getting some sticks after his failed prophecy.
One Barcelona fan commented: “People were so blinded by hate, they actually chose to believe what guys like Toni Freixa were saying solely because he was a presidential candidate, lmao.”
A twitter user said: “Isn’t he the same guy who said he would sign Mbappe and Haaland in 2021 if he became president? Stop giving him attention, I beg.”
A twitter user said: “Make sure this man NEVER becomes president of Barcelona.”
Another said: “Bad days to be called Toni Freixa.”
Freixa admitted has admitted his mistake on social media, but also took a dig at his critics.
He tweeted: “It seems that I am not a fortune teller 🤦🏻♂️… but we will talk on August 31, dear doctors in economics and sports management 😉 Good night! 😘” he has tweeted, probably hinting at Barca’s potential difficulties at registering the players they’ve signed.
