Xavi to miss US tour

Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez has been ruled out of a trip to the US due to issues with his international passport.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the problem started when Xavi was the coach of Saudi side Al Sadd.

Xavi regularly visited Iran, and as a result, his passport was flagged.

Now, Xavi needs ‘special permission’ to travel to the United States to meet up with the team.

The club is currently working hard to solve the issue and get their manager to join the team for the trip.

The gaffer may join the team in Miami later as soon as the issue is resolved.

Xavi Hernandez has named a 28-man squad for the team’s pre-season tour of the US.

Neto, Samuel Umtiti, Riqui Puig, Martin Braithwaite and Oscar Mingueza will not make the trip and it’s obvious they are not in Xavi’s plans.

See the entire squad list: Ter Stegen, Dest, Piqué, R. Araujo, Sergio, O. Dembélé, Pedri, Memphis, Ansu Fati, Nico, Jordi Alba, Ferran, S. Roberto, F. De Jong, Eric, Aubameyang, Gavi, Iñaki Peña, Pjanić, Collado, Kessie, Christensen, Raphinha, Arnau Tenas, Pablo Torre, Balde, Ez Abde and Casadó.

Barcelona’s first game of the trip is against Inter Miami on Tuesday, July 19 at the DRV PNK Stadium.
