After what seemed to be a tricky race to sign Raphinha from Leeds United, the Brazilian is now a Barcelona player.
The Brazilian has joined Barca on a contract until 2026, as he forced a move to the Camp Nou despite massive interest from Chelsea.
Raphinha was today unveiled as a Barcelona player, and he was delighted with the move.
“I have many idols who have passed through here. Just being able to do half of what they achieved will be a lot.” Raphinha said during his presentation at Barcelona.
“When I was a child, the Barcelona game influenced me a lot and I always had the dream of playing here.”
The winger also revealed his delight with the opportunity to play under Xavi Hernández.
He said: “I think we will be able to combine well my desire to be a success at Barça and what Xavi wants from me. I am excited about being coached by a legend like him, it’s a privilege.”
Speaking during Raphinha’s presentation, Barcelona president Joan Laporta hailed the Brazilian, who has a release clause of €1billion.
According to Laporta, the jogo bonito is back to Barcelona – in reference to Barcelona signing another Brazilian talent, which has always been the culture of the club.
Laporta said: “With Raphina, jogo bonito is back. In Barça golden eras there has always been Brazilians and Raphinha is picking up the baton.”
