Tottenham have now confirmed the signing of Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet on loan.

Tottenham released a message on its social media to confirm the deal: “We are delighted to announce the signing of Clément Lenglet on a season-long loan from Barcelona, subject to international clearance and a work permit.”

Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez is trimming his squad ahead of next season.

Clement Lenglet has never convinced since arriving at Camp Nou and was never a regular at the club.

In his first season at Nou Camp, he played 23 La Liga fixtures, and only played 21 times in the league last season.

The 27-year-old centre-back has five years’ experience in the Spanish top flight, and will now join Tottenham on a season-long loan deal.

Some other fringe players have also been linked with exit deals, as some important players are also going to be tied to new contracts.

Barcelona director of football Mateu Alemany has now confirmed that buzzing youngster Gavi will sign a new deal at Camp Nou in the early stages of August, as he claimed that the deal is hundred percent certain.

Alemany told reporters: “There is an outline of an agreement. We are highly committed to sorting out this situation.

“He is 17 years of age and we are waiting until he turns 18 on 5 August so he can sign a contract longer than three years.

“We have small details to close out but we will get it resolved. 100% Gavi will continue at Barca.”
