Barcelona have had to make some shrewd deals this summer, due to the club’s financial situation.
The club have secured the signing of Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie on a free transfer, while some fringe players are also set to leave this summer.
Barcelona have as well had a long romance with Ousmane Dembele this summer.
The France international has since run down his contract with the club, and has flirted with other clubs, especially Chelsea, but is yet to commit his future to any side.
The Frenchman is now a free agent, and according to reports, Dembele has agreed terms with Barcelona over a new contract.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano wrote in a tweet: “Ousmane Dembélé. Barcelona and player’s camp are really close to find full agreement, matter of details – but new deal depends on Barça’s green light. Decision now up to Barcelona, more than Dembélé. #FCB
“Ousmane, waiting for FCB to decide.
“Raphinha, part of this ‘domino’.”
Keeping Dembele is definitely a good move by the club, and Barcelona did well not to bow to the Frenchman’s demands.
Speaking about the Frenchman’s situation, club president Joan Laporta said that Barca have given a final offer to Dembele, and won’t be going beyond that.
Laporta said earlier this month: “Dembélé is no longer a Barça player but the issue is economic. If he accepts our conditions, Dembélé will stay at Barça.”
