According to reports, Barcelona attacker Memphis Depay has been told he’s not in head coach Xavi’s plans for the 2022-23 season.
Memphis Depay joined Barcelona on a free transfer from Lyon last summer and scored 13 goals and two assists for the Blaugrana in 38 appearances across all tournaments.
Depay had a fine start to life at Barca, although the club’s results were far from impressive.
The Dutchman wasn’t a key part of Xavi’s starting team, especially after the signings of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ferran Torres.
Depay also struggled with Achilles and hamstring injuries for most part of last season. The 28-year-old only played one full 90 minutes La Liga game in the second half of last season.
Having signed a two-year contract with the club, Depay now has a year left on his deal.
According to Marca, Depay has been told that he is not part of Xavi’s plans for the upcoming campaign.
Report also claims that Barcelona may be willing to accept a fee of €25m to €30m for the Dutchman.
Depay who had flopped for Manchester United in the Premier League, has been linked with a return to the Premier League.
An unnamed Premier League club are reported to have tabled a £19m offer for Depay, which is below Barcelona’s demands.
With Ousmane Dembele set to remain at the club, and there is also the likelihood of signing Raphinha, Depay may not be needed at the club next season.
