Chelsea were believed to be leading the race for Leeds United star Raphinha, but it seems Barcelona are in control of this deal.

The Blues had previously hijacked the deal from Arsenal, as Leeds accepted a £60m bid from Chelsea.

However, the Brazil international is not keen on a move to Stamford Bridge, and would prefer a move to the Camp Nou.

Reports claim Raphinha is prepared to wait at least another six months to complete his dream move to Barcelona rather than join Chelsea.

According to ESPN, Raphinha would even prefer to remain at Elland Road in the short term and hope that Barcelona’s financial situation resolves itself once the winter window opens.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed Raphinha wants to join Barca, and he also confirmed Chelsea’s interest.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta said: “Raphinha wants to come at Barça. We have communication and have spoken with Leeds. #FCB

“What’s there is that there are other clubs that want Raphinha and are making their proposals.”

The transfer took a twist when Deco, the agent of the Brazilian, was spotted at Barcelona’s office on Wednesday.

Raphinha had agreed personal terms with Barcelona in March and was keen on moving to the La Liga.

However, Barca have been unable to meet Leeds’ valuation of the player due to the club’s financial situation.

Chelsea have made an offer of £60m, while Barcelona are offering €50m with €10m on add-ons.

Chelsea are now pressuring Raphinha and Deco, his agent, for a final answer.
