Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele is in the final few weeks of his contract with the club, and won’t be a Barcelona player at the end of the month.
The 25-year-old France international has rejected every approach from the club to keep him, and has refused to sign a new contract with the Blaugrana.
According to reports, Barcelona boss Xavi has told the Barcelona board to make a last-ditch offer to keep Ousmane Dembele.
Dembele proved his mettle under Xavi after struggling under previous bosses.
According to the Daily Mail, Xavi has urged the club’s board to meet Dembele’s wage demands – a player that cost the Catalans an initial £111m just six years ago.
Ousmane Dembele has been strongly linked with a summer transfer move to Chelsea.
Despite reports claiming that Dembele is set for a move to Chelsea, Dembele recently claimed that he’s staying at Barcelona by telling a fan he is ‘fine’ at Barcelona.
Footage that has emerged on social media showed a fan interacting with the Frenchman as they sit in their cars at a traffic light.
“Are you staying in Barcelona?” the fan asked Dembele replying: “Yes.”
The supporter then asked whether Dembele wants to work with Tuchel at Chelsea, to which he replied: “I’m fine at Barcelona.”
It’s yet to be seen if Dembele was joking with the fan or just avoiding the question.
Hopefully, the club can get Ousmane Dembele to sign a new contract.
