Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Liverpool have been in a triangle that included Sadio Mane, Darwin Nunez and Robert Lewandowski.

Liverpool knew they’d lose Mane to Bayern, and bought Darwin Nunez as his replacement.

Bayern Munich have now confirmed the signing of Sadio Mane from Liverpool, which should pave way for Lewandowski to leave the club.

It has now been confirmed that Sadio Mane has ended his six-year stay at Liverpool to join German Bundesliga side, Bayern Munich.

With a year left on his contract, Mane opted against extending his contract with the Reds.

However, Bayern don’t seem to be interested in selling Lewandowski to Barcelona.

The 33-year-old Poland international has a year left on his contract with Bayern, and wants to leave the Allianz Arena.

Former President of the club, Uli Hoeness, has told Sport1 that Bayern Munich would need Lewandowski for next season and shouldn’t be sold.

According to Hoeness, he’s not in support of a Lewandowski transfer.

He said: “The new team is being worked on intensively. If everything that was presented to me last week works out, we will have an attractive team next year with Lewandowski.

“Things didn’t go exactly the way he and his agent wanted. That’s why they are angry,” Hoeness said.

“The sun will shine on Lewandowski and Bayern again. It has always been like that,” he added.

Robert Lewandowski himself is keen on a transfer to Barcelona, but has chosen to keep mute to the media.
