Barcelona striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang has insisted Barcelona will be title contenders next season, despite the club’s current predicament.
After a troubled start to the campaign last term, Barcelona finished second with 73 points, 13 points behind League champions Real Madrid.
Barca experienced a resurgence under Xavi Hernandez, that saw the club’s form take an upward shift after his appointment.
Despite the club’s financial concerns, Aubameyang is upbeat on the club’s title chances next season.
Speaking at an awards ceremony in Avila, the striker declared: “I look forward to the new season because we have a lot of talent and we are going to enjoy it.
“I know it wasn’t easy, but in the end we’re in the Champions League and that’s the most important thing. I’ve given the maximum I could give this year.”
Speaking on the financial difficulties of the club, he added that “it is an issue that the club has to solve. It is not easy, but I have always said that Barça will fight back”.
