According to reports, Barcelona are believed to be contemplating the future of Barcelona defender Gérard Pique.

Pique has grown into a veteran at the club and is one of the senior players in the team.

Reports now claim that Barcelona see Pique as expendable.

Gerard Pique has fired back at Barcelona and claimed that he is good enough to ‘bench’ any defender that joins the club after he was told he was surplus to requirements.

“I’ll be a starter. If you have the guts, bring the best central defender in the world, who will come as a substitute,” he said.

Reports have it that Barcelona chiefs are also believed to be worried about Pique’s wages and his issues off the field.

Barca is looking to trim the club’s wage budget, and Gerard Pique may just be affected.
